    Huawei, MTN Group establish Joint Innovation Technology Lab

    MTN Group and Huawei have officially inked a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of a Joint Innovation Technology Lab. This significant partnership, announced at the prestigious MWC Barcelona, marks a new era of technological innovation across the continent.

    The signing ceremony, graced by senior delegations from both MTN and Huawei, solidified their commitment to driving forward the advancement of key sectors such as 5G and beyond, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data analytics, cloud computing, and digital financial services.

    At the heart of this collaboration lies the creation of an Innovation Technology Lab, strategically located at MTN Group’s headquarters in South Africa. This lab, poised to become a hub of creativity and ingenuity, will serve as a catalyst for collaboration within Africa’s vibrant digital ecosystem.

From improving network coverage in remote rural areas to enhancing energy efficiency and ensuring affordability, the Joint Innovation Technology Lab will be instrumental in devising innovative solutions that drive sustainable development and digital transformation across Africa.

This sentiment was echoed by Li Peng, Huawei’s Corporate Senior Vice President, who emphasized Huawei’s commitment to empowering MTN with the tools needed to excel in Africa’s dynamic market.
