The National Information Technology Authority Uganda (NITA-U) has developed a National IT Project Management Methodology (NITPMM), to help provide guidance for the government on how to manage IT projects from start to completion.

This is under the mandate to provide advice on IT project management services to Government.  According to James Saaka, the Executive Director of NITA Uganda, government will save money if it supports IT.

“A lot of money, time and resources will be saved by government ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) when NITPMM comes on board,” he said. Saaka further explained that the methodology would provide a structured approach for MDAs to better manage IT projects and programmes within the government.

The NITPM will join a number of government public sector reforms including the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets (PPDA), Result Oriented Management (ROM), the Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS) and others whose performances have been characterised with varying degrees of success, according to a statement from NITA-U.
