Speaking to the Daily Monitor, the acting director for broadcasting at UCC, Mr Fred Otunu

[signoff icon=”quote-circled”]Currently Uganda is using both analogue and digital broadcasting. We have done what we think is enough sensitization ahead of the deadline but even after we shall continue to engage the public. So the move to digital is to help create some space, by say our local TV stations being offered by a given and licensed service provider under digital terrestrial broadcasting [/signoff]

The move to digital will enable UCC reallocated the excess spectrum for usage in broadband technologies like 4G-LTE. The Monitor further reports that the switch off also affect the whole of Entebbe, areas up to Mityana to the East, Wobulenzi to the North and Mpigi-Masaka (Mbizzinnya) District to the South East.
