    Apple releases iOS 7.1: Improved Touch ID, CarPlay support and more

     iphone 5c_4Apple has of Today released iOS 7.1, update that powers the iPhone and iPad more than 6 months after it released iOS last year. This is the first major update to the software.

    Make sure you have over 280 Mbs of data if you are using a cellular connection (we recommend wifi), but the update its self will be free. It comes with  some new options for Siri, improved fingerprint sensing with Touch ID and aims to correct the troubling bug that some users had that could cause the phone to reboot.

    Apple recently announced a new CarPlay feature that will lets iPhone owners with new cars that support to access music, Siri and other features from their car’s infotainment system. CarPlay will come bundled into this thought new version I doubt if it will be of any use for any user here in Uganda any time soon.

    With Siri in iOS 7.1, users now have the option to hold down the home button while they dictate their query, rather than having Siri wait for a pause. Think of it kind of like the push-to-talk feature on walkie-talkies. Apple is also adding new voice options for Siri, including Mandarin Chinese and both British and Australian English.

    Other minor changes include:

    • Ability to view upcoming appointments from within a monthly view of the calendar
    • A new camera feature that automatically takes a high-dynamic-range (HDR) photo

    So get ready to see the download notification next week so that you get your hands on this latest version of iOS. But if you feel a week is too long to wait, go into the settings menu on their iOS 7 device and it should show up in a search for available updates.
