Introducing Clicks: A phone case with a Built-in Keyboard

A new company, Clicks Technology, has recently unveiled an innovative iPhone case with a built-in keyboard on the bottom. Named Clicks, this unique case is priced at $139 and will be available for the iPhone 14 Pro version starting from February 1st, with the 15 Pro version set to ship in mid-March. Clicks Technology is also accepting reservations for the iPhone 15 Pro Max model, priced at $159, which is expected to launch in early spring.

Co-founded by Michael Fisher and Kevin Michaluk, known as MrMobile and CrackBerry Kevin respectively, Clicks Technology will be showcasing their groundbreaking case at the upcoming CES event. While there have been previous physical keyboard cases for the iPhone, Clicks stands out due to its modern design and intentional approach. Unlike its predecessor, Typo, which faced legal issues for copying the BlackBerry keyboard, Clicks offers a fresh and cheerful design.

The Clicks case connects to the iPhone similar to a Backbone controller. Users can simply slide their phone into the case, align the power port with the USB-C or Lightning connector inside, and snap the case around the top. Notably, Clicks does not rely on Bluetooth or contain a battery, as it draws power directly from the phone. The case even supports pass-through fast charging for the iPhone 15 Pro.

Despite its advantages, the Clicks case does have a few drawbacks. Its size gives the iPhone a TV remote-like appearance, which may take some getting used to. Additionally, the absence of a built-in magnet means that MagSafe accessories like chargers and wallets won’t stick well to the case. However, wireless charging remains functional.

Clicks Technology plans to release a companion app on the Apple App Store, which will provide additional functionality to the keyboard over time. Initially, the case will be available in two colors: bumblebee (yellow) and London sky (grayish-blue). Early buyers will receive “Founders Editions” of the case, granting them VIP support and exclusive access to new color options.

The Clicks team comprises former employees from renowned tech companies such as Apple, BlackBerry, and Google. The company aims to cater to creators who prefer physical keyboards for their efficiency and tactile feedback. The Clicks case also includes features commonly found on computer keyboards, including a backlight and the CMD key for utilizing iOS keyboard shortcuts.

Clicks Technology emphasizes that the case allows users to regain screen real estate by eliminating the need for on-screen keyboards, enabling a more immersive experience with apps and content. Say goodbye to frustratingly tapping on virtual keys, as Clicks brings back the convenience of physical buttons to iPhone users.

In conclusion, Clicks presents a promising solution for iPhone users seeking a more efficient and tactile typing experience. With its sleek design, functional features, and the expertise of its team, Clicks Technology aims to revolutionize the way we interact with our smartphones.
