Airtel Uganda powers the new DStv smart bundles

In a move to draw their services closer to their customers, MultiChoice Uganda and Airtel Uganda in a joint partnership have launched DStv smart bundles with the Dstv Now app on their phones to watch entertainment sports and general news wherever they are without their TV sets.

Whether you caught in traffic or caught somewhere away from home the DStv smart bundles will enable customers to extend their experience to enjoy all DStv channels on the go.

The bundles are of course only limited to new and existing Airtel customers that have the DStv now app. The move follows continued demand for a smart app from customers who miss out on News and live sports while still stuck in traffic jam or in the office. The DStv smart bundles are unique in such a way they will not interfere with your current maid data bundles.

The DStv smart bundles will enable streaming at a daily rate of UGX 2,000 for 500MB, the weekly rate of UGX 10,000 for 3.5GB, and a monthly rate of UGX 30,000 for 12GB of data. This cost doesn’t take into consideration the premium subscription to the DStv service.

With the growth of other streaming services which are more affordable than DStv, there we envisage a future demand for an Amazon Prime or Netflix Smart bundle in the future by telecom companies. This will not be a surprise as Multichoice has recently come out to admit that these streaming services are destroying their business.

The information was found in a 15th January 2021 presentation by MultiChoice’s where it said OTT operators like Netflix and YouTube were their biggest competitors and a real threat.
