NTV Uganda is cementing its place as Uganda’s leading TV station, now with over 1 million twitter followers just begin President Yoweri Museveni who has over 1.6 million followers.
In a tweet to their twitter followers, the media house said “We here at NTV Uganda would like to wholeheartedly thank #UOT for raising us this high on these tough streets of twitter. From our recent 25 most popular twitter accounts in Uganda, 24 percent of top profiles are dominated by Media houses — these are led by NTV Uganda, followed Daily Monitor, New Vision, NBS Television, Red Pepper Uganda, and Urban Television.
At the time we published the top 25 followed twitter profiles in May, NTV Uganda was at 984 followers only 16 followers shy from hitting the 1 million mark. The politicians in the top ten include Dr. Kiiza Besigye, Amama Mbabazi, and Hon Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine who also doubles as a celebrity. The biggest surprise on the celebrity list was the unverified account of NBS’s KatchUp presenter Douglas Lwanga with over 289.9k followers. Uganda’s number one YouTube sensation, Eddy Kenzo has his profile ranked 14th with 264.3k followers. Jose Chameleon and Shebah Kalungi’s profiles are part of other celebrities in the most followed twitter profiles in Uganda.

When it comes to YouTube NTV Uganda has 462,000 subscribers and leads the news broadcasting channels with a clearly better strategy unlike its competitors hosting a 24/7 live channel and also short clips of its popular programs. This is followed by Vision Group, NTV’s Akawungenzi, Next media, and SparkTV UGANDA at 442k,000, 238,000, 192,000, and 106,000 subscribers respectively.
