Seems the hope to finally get a foldable phone keeps getting further and further. Huawei’s Mate X has suffered yet another delay. At a press event, the company told TechRadar that there is “no possibility” of the folding phone making its September launch date, which itself was pushed back from the original planned June release.
The Mate X is also unlikely to be released before November, according to the report, though Huawei is said to be “certain” that it’ll come out at some point this year.
It was initially shown off at the Mobile World Congress 2019 in February. Huawei promised that the Mate X will be available mid this year at an alarming price of $2600 (Approx UGX 9.6M). This was very expensive compared to the Galaxy fold price of $1980, making the Mate X way too expensive to peep on. So, the Mate X was the best foldable smartphone alternative we’d seen.

TechRadar doesn’t elaborate on the reason for the delay. It’s not clear whether Huawei is doing extra technical diligence to avoid any Mate X embarrassement false start Samsung experienced with the Galaxy Fold, or on top of the company’s uncertain status with crucial partners like ARM and Google is holding the release back.
