    Tecno Spark 3 (Pro) Vs Tecno Spark 2 (Pro): A new reign of the Spark?

    The year 2019 has welcomed the Tecno Spark 3 with open arms, the way last year hailed the Spark 2. The beauty of the Spark series is centered around alluring photography, from the phone’s bright cameras, which has no discrimination between light and darkness.

    The two handsets pack specifications that they have in common, and a lot of differences that set them apart. With the Spark 3 being an upgrade of the Spark 2, it is not a surprise that much of the outlook and key specifications have been enhanced to match up to the trends.

    Both smartphones maintain the mid-range status and each comes with a bigger or Pro version, which comes with better specifications than the standard version.

    Similarities

    Some of the key specifications you will find on both the devices include an 8MP front selfie sensor and a non-removable 3500mAh. Both feature a fingerprint sensor, have a round edged design, and both employ bright camera features to bring out the best in the sensors.

    Differences between Tecno Spark 3 and Tecno Spark 2

    When you look at the display, the Tecno Spark 2 has a screen size of 6.0 inches with a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels while the Spark 3 introduces a cut-out notch with an increased screen size of 6.2 inches with a resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels. The Spark 3 sports a 19:9 aspect ratio while the Spark 2 has 18:9 ratio.

    The Spark 3 has an AI powered dual rear camera setup of 13+2MP for the Pro and 13+0.08MP with quad-LED flash while the Tecno Spark 2 has a single rear camera of 13 MP with f/2.0. The Spark 3 front camera supports FaceID, Face Beautification, HDR and an LED flash, while the Spark 2 camera is paired with a dual LED flash.

    In regards to hardware, the Spark 3 has a MediaTek MT6761 Helio A22 chipset with Quad-core 2.0 GHz processor while the Spark 2 has a Mediatek MT6580 chipset with Quad-core 1.3 GHz processor. The Spark 3 is powered by Android 9.0 Pie, while the Spark 2 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo’s Go edition.

    Memory-wise, the Spark 3 has 2GB RAM with 16GB of inbuilt storage for the standard version while the Pro variant upgrades to 32GB storage, while the Spark 2 is available in 1GB/2GB RAM variants with internal memory of 16GB. You can still expand them with a micro SD card.

    Verdict

    All the results point at the Tecno Spark 3 outperforming the Spark 2 device. If you opt to upgrade or to buy the new handset, you won’t have any regrets. It sports an amazing camera, a bigger screen size and it comes at a more affordable rate too.
