How to quickly unsend a message in Facebook Messenger

Among the highly anticipated features coming to Facebook Messenger this year was the ability to remove messages from a conversation in case someone sent them by mistake.

It was a haunting experience when such an incident occured to you,
yet despite any efforts to delete such messages from conversations, the person to whom the message was sent would still see it in the chronology of the conversation.

Now, Facebook has delivered – as was expected of them – an option to remove a message from Messenger within 10 minutes after you have sent it, regardless of whether it has been sent to just one person or a group of people.

To delete or unsend a message in Messenger, tap on the message you want to remove and select the option to Remove for Everyone. The message you have removed will be replaced by text alerting everyone in the conversation that it was removed.

Alternatively, if you want to remove a message just for yourself, you can still do so by selecting the Remove for You option. When you choose this option, the message will be removed for you, but any other person involved in the chat will still be able to see it.

Recently, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg hinted on the company’s plans to merge Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram to create a safer experience. The merger, if effected, will keep the three services as separate apps, but with the same infrastructure running them.

This could also come with the possibility for users to send messages from one app to another without limits.
