    Instagram monthly users reach over 500 million

    Instagram, the world’s popular picture and video social network app has announced that it has reached the half a billion monthly users milestone . This is a huge number as the Facebook  own company keep growing, that to the recent deep integration with the worlds most popular social media site. Out of the 500 million, Instagram says that over 300 million of those people use the service every single day.

    Instagram’s global userbase has doubled over the past two years; Instagram reached 400 million monthly users in September after hitting 300 million the previous December from 200 million in march 2014. The company says a typical day sees over 95 million photos and videos shared, with 4.2 billion likes on average.  According to the Instagram blog post, the company said

    “As you’ve captured and shared the moments happening around you, you’ve formed incredibly varied and diverse communities. Whether you’re an illustrator, a sneakerhead or an astronaut on the International Space Station, every photo and video you share helps bring people closer to friends and interests, broadens perspectives and inspires a sense of wonder. You’ve made Instagram a place where the everyday and the epic are always within reach”

    It should be noted that companies that Facebook bought like Instagram are growing faster than other social media companies like Twitter, there’s still quite a bit of headroom for the service. It should be noted that Facebook acquired WhatsApp that now has over a billion registered users.
