    [blockquote right=”pull-left”]
[/blockquote]This may come as no surprise to many, as all telecom companies seem to be chasing to hit the 3/- per second call tariff.  Could this be the sweet-spot for the telcos in Uganda? As competition gets tough in Uganda’s voice market, Uganda telecom (UTL) has today quietly unleashed to all its 1.5 million subscribers a new UGX 3 per second call tariff on all voice calls across all networks and also UGX 2.5 for on net calls (UTL to UTL calls).

This is a direct response to MTN and Airtel‘s price tariff changes announced last month. To activate UTL’s new tariff subscribers will have to dial *100# and select option 3 and thats it. Whether MTN’s 3/- per second call price model will work for all mobile telecommunication companies to survive in the market, is another story all together.  So who is next?
