Watch This: Nissan shows off the world’s first self cleaning car technology

Potholes, durst and muddy roads are some of the characteristics of roads in Uganda, if you ever drive a day without having your car getting dirty then chances are that you are not in our God forsaken country. You always have to give your car a new coat of paint once in a while but those days of daily cleaning are soon to be a word of the past, Nissan feels your pain. This week the car manufacturer showed off it’s new paint for their vehicles which would repel water and other debris, putting the car wash squarely in its place. This technology is being testes on the Europe-only Nissan Note, and also being experimented on with other applications on other Nissan vehicles as well.

This self cleansing technology is called Ultra-Ever Dry, calling it “super-hydrophobic and oleophobic”. Hydrophobic of course relates to the paint’s aversion to liquids, while the oleophobic properties also mean oils and fats would slip away cleanly. Essentially, you’re left with things like mud or other sludgy grime sliding right off your car.

According to Geraldine Ingham, Chief Marketing Manager for Nissan Note,

We are committed to addressing everyday problems our customers face and will always consider testing exciting, cutting edge technology like this incredible coating application.”
