    Data Care scoops IT accolade at the President’s Export Award

    Data Care (U) Limited, an ICT consulting company that has been at the forefront of many Government and Non-Government projects in Uganda and the East African Region, was recognized as the Gold award winner in the category “IT and IT – Enabled services” export performance in 2021/2022. This was at the President’s Export Awards 2022, an event organized by the Uganda Export Promotion Board.

    It is worth noting that Data Care (U) Limited has been named winner in the previous years; Services Exporter of the year 2018 and Silver award winner – IT & IT Enabled Services in 2019.

    These annual awards are aimed at appreciating those that have excelled in promoting Uganda through exports. On the 23rd of June 2022, the 2022 Awards ceremony was held at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala under the theme “Enhancing government efforts for boosting export growth.”

    The Gold Award and Certificate of Recognition were presented to Data Care (U) Limited by Rt Hon. Rukia Nakadama, the Third Deputy Prime Minister, on behalf of the President Yoweri Museveni. Patrick Kagenda, the Systems Director, and Apollo Asiimwe, the Project Manager received the same on behalf of Data Care (U) Limited.

    Uganda’s ICT sector is one of the fast-growing sectors in Uganda’s economy and region. Uganda’s total export goods have increased from $3.47bn to $ 6.15bn representing a 77 % growth, in the last 20 years. Date care are extremely proud to be a contributor to Uganda’s fast-growing export volume.

    Data Care (U) Limited has exported ProMISe HRMIS to different countries including; South Sudan, Ethiopia, Yemen, and Iraq. To Malawi, Botswana, and Lesotho, they have exported Monitoring and Evaluation Systems as well as customized Mobile Applications. And also, they have implemented the rollout of the Electronic Medical Record system in Uganda supported by USAID/PEPFAR under the USAID/SITES project. In Kenya, Data Care successfully implemented the TradeMark East Africa Intranet. At UNBS, they worked with the Single Window Team to integrate a portal for clearing imports/exports with URA and UNBS, and other agencies. At the Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development, the IT company developed the Orphans and Vulnerable Management Information System (OVCMIS). At Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) they developed the National Food and Agriculture Statistics System (NFASS) among others.

    Over their16 years of existence, Data Care has strategically developed world-class ICT solutions to help businesses and individuals automate their data journeys. This has been aided by Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Information Security Management Systems (ISO 27001:2013).
