We are expecting Samsung to announce a slew of devices very soon along with the much-awaited S Pen Pro. The other huge news is that Samsung foldables are finally going to get support for an S Pen stylus. According to filings made by Samsung for the S Pen Pro, a bigger version of the S Pen with Bluetooth connectivity that Samsung announced in January along with the S21 series, have been made public, and one document (PDF) reveals that the upcoming stylus will work with exiting and unannounced devices.
The S Pen Pro doesn’t have a release date but is set to hit this year, will apparently support with several devices including;
- S21 Ultra 5G
- Note 20
- Note 20 Ultra
- Z Fold 3 5G
- Note 10 lite
- Tab S7+
- Tab S7
- Tab S7 FE
- Tab S6 (that support One UI 3.1 or later)
S Pen Pro will be charged via USB-C and is rated at 5.0V (100mA) and support for Air Actions feature with Bluetooth low-energy (BLE). The S Pen Pro’s support for the Z Fold 3 isn’t a major surprise — the company has been hinting toward some sort of S Pen support for the foldable for some time. However, the major concern will be whether the Foldable screen will be able to handle the pressure of the stylus pen’s tip. Samsung switched to an Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) with the Z Fold 2.
They also preinstalled a plastic screen protector over the UTG, so it may still have a bit of a plasticky feel and couldn’t pick up dings from your fingernails and we hope the Z Fold 3 will have improved technology to prevent damage. The people who will be more excited for the S Pen Pro will be the S21 Ultra owners who will finally have the Note experience.
