In the Covid-19 pandemic, online shows are the way to go for most artists in Uganda. On Christmas day, Bobi Wine’s latest show dubbed a ‘simple Christmas performance’ which he dedicated to his in-laws, media team, and close friends were live-streamed by over 22,000 viewers on Facebook and YouTube. This number excludes other auxiliary YouTube channels that were also streaming the same concert.
This is the third show that has been done by Presidential Candidate Bobi Wine (Robert Kyagulanyi) this year. No Ugandan artists have come close to these live online numbers on any social media platform– maintaining and also exceeding his record of getting not less than 20,000 views on any of his performances.

Bobi Wine held his first concert way back in May on Mother’s day at his home in Magerere which was live-streamed by over 28,800 viewers. A month later, he followed it up with yet another virtual concert dubbed the ‘Freedom Show’ held at his one love beach Busabala. By the fourth hour of streaming, he got over 270,000 views.
While thanking his team that has moved with him during his campaigns, Bobi Wine said; “We have decided to entertain you because that is all we can do to show our appreciation to you. Today is Christmas and I know you have forewent being with your families because you love your country. We have been through ninety five districts so far, amidst teargas and confrontation from security forces and we thought that this can help them forget all the bad days.”
