It will surprise you that I first came across the Infinix Note 7 on a TechTuber’s channel called Unbox Therapy (See the last embedded video) and I was like, if the Infinix Note 7 is making these strides, then it’s worth checking out. However, the video was sponsored by the brand so I had my reservations but here we are.
Luckily enough, Infinix extended a review device to us which I’ve managed to spend a couple of days, and these are my first impressions.
First, the unboxing
Typical of Infinix, the unboxing experience was more or less the same with previous devices I’ve been able to unbox from the brand. Besides the device, the box comes with a fast 18W charger, micro-USB charging cable, headsets, SIM ejector, the usual paperwork, and a plastic cover bundled with a screen protector (a rarity if you asked).

Under the hood
Besides the above, the phones packs an impressive spec sheet that I was eager to put to test. We got the 64GB + 4GB memory configuration but it too packs the G70 processor, an impressive 5000mAh battery for extended battery juice, which almost lasted for 2 days. The device supports 4G, a Quad Camera setup of 48MP Quad camera 48MP+2MP+2MP+video and last but not least, a 6.95” HD+ screen.

The screen real-estate is quite huge but its the only thing that came short of completing the ultimate spec sheet, for the price of course. Perhaps, Infinix could have packed a Full HD 1080p screen instead, for even better crisp viewing. However, every time I remember its recommended retail price of around UGX 650,000, it makes me want to take back my previous statement.
On a serious note, the Infinix Note 7 packs so much power and features for the price. For old Infinix Note aficionados, you’ll be surprised that the Note 7 doesn’t come with the usual X-Pen but it makes up for the omission, with software tweaks to aid you with one-handed use. We shall expound on these in our full review.
The Infinix Note 7 is a fingerprint magnet, therefore, that included cover could come in handy. It also comes with a headphone jack, though this is expected of devices at this price point. It also packs dual stereo speakers should you choose to blast those stereos, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that doubles as the power button, an in-display 16MP selfie camera. Infinix even added cool wallpapers to hide this camera. Actually you can barely notice it, especially when the phone is locked since it blends with the wallpapers.

All this is powered by Android 10. The phone so far runs so well and the only thing that came close to ruining the experience is Infinix’s own XOS UI. The Note 7 ships with the 6.0 variants but you can do away with this using custom skins from its X themes app or downright download a new skin.
Conclusion And Next steps…
The above are still being put to test and we shall come back with a review articulating the pros and cons of the device and whether it’s worth spending on your hard-earned money, especially during this lockdown. But so far, so good.
