We live in a time where smartphone notifications have replaced SMS sounds as the most important sound that comes from our phones. To me, it’s another source of distraction, good enough I’ve disabled all notifications on my phone and the best chance of getting my attention when offline is either by SMS text or a phone call. But hey, this article isn’t about tooting my own horn about digital minimalism but to show you how to set missed call alert in case your phone has been off for a fair share of the day.
Here is how you set and deactivate the missed call alert on MTN, Airtel, Africell and UTL in case you’ve just renewed your sim card after losing a phone or when your phone was simply switched off.
How to set WhoCalled alert on your MTN Uganda number
MTN Uganda has been serious when it comes to customizing their services and the missed call alert, wasn’t going to be the one service they would ignore and called the service as WhoCalled alert. Like the name, the service is free and would send you SMS with details on the number of times someone in your contact list tried to call you when your phone was off, the time of the call and the other nitty-gritty like the date.
To set the service, dial *160*7# and Choose Option 6 for MTN Who Called and select Option 1 to activate. Follow the same procedures and choose Option 2 to deactivate the service in case you’re tired of being reminded about your phone being off every time you switched it back on.
What you should keep in mind is the person calling is also alerted that your number is back on and you ought to be mindful in case you’re dodging them before setting the service.
