A couple of weeks back, Bytelex Advocates took to Century Cinemax to celebrate their 5th anniversary at the Next.Legal summit and they launched four tech products for their customers which will soon be available on their web portals. The products hope to refine how people interact with legal systems within the region.
For those who don’t know, Bytelex Advocates is a focused law firm which leverages on its background in tech to offer free legal advice to start-ups and emerging companies from the firm’s partners and associates across the East Africa region. Here is a brief insight into what the products will be doing.
1- Shield
The first product launched was dubbed “Shield” an instrument that enables startups and investors to work together at an early stage to streamline funding requirements. It saves time and money on traditional legal agreements. It’s the first of the kind in East Africa and will be adopted by key parties.
Specifically tailored made for startups, the platform will help in the early financing stages of the journey by organizing and making sure all related documents are in place at the right time. Shield Is a cloud-based solution meaning you’ll get your documents anywhere and using any device, from mobile to PCs.
2- Access
Access was the second tech solution in the list and this is a cloud-based product that allows users to store, distribute and save legal documents with actionable insights on the data sets.
Below are the Features included in the package;
-Quick document storage in thematic folders.
-Get actionable insights (On-screen shows an email/SMS message showing that company X needs to be filed).
-Quickly collaborate on a file with your favorite lawyer.
-Share your documents easily and hustle free with an investor during due diligence.
This is a go-to product for busy lawyers who are ever on the move and needs their documents in one place for easy access.
3- CLE Online
The third product is an online education platform dubbed “CLE Online” which will help to practice lawyers study for the CLE paper and award certificates of completion. For those who aren’t in the legal industry CLE stands for Continuing Legal Education and it consists of professional education for attorneys as part of the professional development program and takes place after the initial admission to the bar.
The product will work in the same model as the most popular MOOC platforms and here are some of the interesting features;
-A platform where Law firms and Industry players will have the chance to develop their CLE course which they can charge for.
– Lawyers will select a class online from the classes available.
– They will complete the training online and the system shall access their participation and award certificate of completion.
4- Cyber Security Report
The fourth and last product is a compilation of the Cybersecurity report which outlines a chronicle of a relevant content on privacy and data protection, digital piracy, hacking, etc over a specific period of time based on local context.
