With the recent rise of tech hubs and incubators in Uganda, there has also been a robust rise of Ugandan based App developers plus services. These collaboration centers like The Hive, Outbox and the Ntinda based Innovation village among others have for some time contributed to a new twist in software & App development in the country prompting scouts looking for talent here. Joining these is Andela, a multinational brand that has also come out to refocus on the developers’ community with a hefty 100,000 problems tagline.
Through a newly appointed first female director in Uganda, Ms Jackie Ochola. She affirmed Andela’s trade that involves training and mentoring software developers with a tech center so far housing 110 strong world-class developers and staff. The company has several centers both within Africa and the United States with Kampala being the 5th center with a unique view to problem solving as the new director teased.
If we have 100,000 developers with the support of Andela solving one problem each, then we have 100,000 problems in Africa solved ” Ms Ochola
The impact of Andela in Uganda

Having launched its Uganda offices last year, the center is now comprised of over 100 full time engineers placing every socket right to the core development of the Tech sector as ICTAU’s board chair asserted that “Andela’s presence in Uganda will boost expansion our tech industry”.
