    How to Block Pop Ups in Google Chrome Web Browser

    The rise of digital marketing has made viewing or listening to ads unavoidable when browsing the web. This is most common on websites that provide content for free. Of course nothing comes free, even using VPN to circumvent the OTT Tax comes with a cost. But its only logical for these guys to put ads on their websites to raise a few bucks to run them. If you don’t care about barring the growth of these site owners, follow the steps below to block pop ups in your Google Chrome browser.

    Modern browser vendors integrate pop-up ad blockers which allows users to muffle most of these distracting pop-up ads. However even with a similar concept, every browser handles this operation differently.

    Block Pop up Ads In Google Chrome (Windows, Linux, Mac OS Sierra, Mac OS X, Chrome OS)

    • Type the following command into Chrome’s address bar chrome://settings/content and press the Enter key. Chrome’s Content settings interface will display, overlaying your main browser window.
    • Locate the section labeled Pop ups by scrolling down.
    • Click on Pop ups.
    • By default, Chrome prevents all pop-ups. If you altered this setting, turn it off.
    • You can also add specific sites that you want to block, or white list a few and block the rest. The specific sites you add override whatever setting you choose for the radio button.
    • After you make your desire tweaks, click on the Done button to return to the main browser interface.

    Block Pop-ups in Google Chrome for Android and iOS (iPad, iPhone, iPod touch)

    • Click the three vertically placed dots located in the upper right hand corner of the browser window to access Chrome’s main menu.
    • Tap settings when the drop down menu appears. this will take you to Chrome’s settings menu.
    • Click Site settings option on Android or Content Settings on iOS which are located in advanced settings.

    iOS Users:

    • The Block Pop-ups option controls whether or not the pop-up blocker is enabled. Select this option.
    • Another option labeled Block Pop-ups will appear, this time accompanied by a button.
    • Simply tap on the button to toggle Chrome’s pop-up blocker on and off .
    • Select the Done link to return to your browsing session.

    Android Users:

    • On the Site settings screen scroll down, if necessary, and select Pop-ups.
    • The Pop-ups option will now be visible, accompanied by an On/Off button.
    • Tap on this button to toggle Chrome’s pop-up blocking functionality.

    Chrome for Android also makes it easy to modify pop-up blocking for selected sites. To do so, first select the All sites option on the Site settings screen. Next, choose the site that you wish to modify. Finally, repeat the steps above to enable or disable pop-ups for that specific website.
