Xiaomi’s Mi Note 2 Xeroxes the Galaxy Note 7 in Specs and looks

Now that we have the Galaxy Note 7 out of the way, other phone manufacturers have decided to Xerox the best of the Note 7 and more.  Xiaomi has announced the Mi Note 2, a phone that not surprisingly looks similar to Samsung’s doomed Galaxy Note 7 while presumably won’t led to any explosion. Xiaomi has improved the specs ; It comes with a 5.7 inched curved OLED display and is not Super AMOLED like on the latest Galaxy phone. The camera has been bumped up to 22.56 megapixels at the back and 8 MP on the front just like the iPhone 7 plus and Google’s Pixel phones. It has a battery life of 4070 mAh with support for up to 37 Global LTE bands.

The phone starts at $413 for a 4GB variant with 64 GB of storage and 4GB of RAM, going up to $516 for a global model with 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM.

This is clearly a premium phone and Xiaomi has pulled out all its stops. Other premium phone makers like Huawei and Oppo are thriving in China at the expense of companies like Xiaomi, whose average selling price has plummeted in recent times. Whether Xiaomi ‘s Note 2 will be a home run, that is to be decided by the masses and how much marketing they put in.
