How Rotary Uganda has changed the lives of people

Geek week 2015 postsA little is known about this Organization especially among people and to those who have heard about it have this perception that it’s for the rich and well off as one of my colleague noted “Ebyo byabagaga” meaning that’s for the rich.

    Rotary Uganda welcomes everyone no matter which cast, tribe, cultural background you come from but however it has been divided into categories like;

    1. Interactors (primary & secondary students)
    2. Retractors (Students)
    3. Rotarians (Cooperate people)

With their core values such as

    • We see differently: Our multidisciplinary perspective helps us see challenges in unique ways.
    • We think differently: We apply leadership and expertise to social issues—and find unique solutions.
    • We act responsibly: Our passion and perseverance create lasting change.
    • We make a difference at home and around the world: Our members can be found in your community and across the globe.

This makes Rotarians very unique people and that differentiates them from the common man because of the giving heart actually most of them carry a motto that goes “SERVICE ABOVE SELF” and usually meet once a week in different fellowships so as to discuss on how to make Uganda a better place.

The impact of Rotary Uganda can however not go unnoticed simply because of the different services they have rendered to the people of this great nation and many people especially the under privileged have been the greatest beneficiaries from these Heaven sent Angels.

Let’s see a few of the projects that Rotary Uganda is undertaking in different parts of Uganda:

    1. Polio Eradication

We all know the impact Polio had on many children in this country in the early 90’s with some losing their body parts although we should not forget that most of our grandparents attributed to African Chemistry (Witchcraft).

This was not the case but these Angels (Rotarians) have done a great job to reduce polio and its effects in Uganda.

    1. Construction cancer Ward in Nsambya Hospital

Let’s all face it who has not seen the blue attire with yellow strips around Kampala?? If you haven’t then you should be heading to Namboole for a work out with “Maama Kitone”.

Yap Rotary is fundraising money to build a cancer ward at Nsambya Hospital in a quest to save the mothers of this country though their annual Cancer run were people contribute a small fee to a common cause.

    1. Financial Literacy

Rotary Uganda with Partnership with Bank of Uganda (BOU) they are carrying out national financial literacy to people especially the youth guiding them on how well they should govern their income.

If you are not sure of your financial knowledge then you may consider looking for a fellowship in your area for the lifesaving financial techniques.

    1. Projects in Underprivileged Areas

Areas such as Naguru go-down are one of the beneficiaries of these Rotary projects with a water project coming and ensuring that people in this area have access to clean water.

More the Rotary of Kampala-Naguru has a health day were they treat the people of Naguru go-down treating diseases like malaria, cough and immunizing the children.

We at Techjaja do recognize the job well done by Rotary Uganda and we call upon people to always contribute for a better Uganda.
