Google has sold millions of their Chrome cast device which has worked out very well for them. Only priced at $35 this device became one of Amazon’s electronics best-seller. Now in their usual spirit of playing catch up, Microsoft is reportedly fabricating its own video streaming device crafted for Windows users, according to recent FCC filings in the US. Windows Phone Daily spotted documents suggesting that Microsoft’s version of the Chromecast-like device will feature Wi-Fi, HDMI compatibility, and a USB port.

Microsoft will of course have their own technology to enable them stream video on your TV from your phone; but according to another, a separate filing at the Wi-Fi Alliance website indicates that it will use Miracast technology to beam content from a Windows Phone or Windows laptop to larger screens. It should be noted that Miracast is not as friendly to multiple people in the same living room sharing control over what’s being played on the TV. What remains to be seen is if Microsoft could still manage to deliver a very obliging product — at Google’s already-low price point.
