    MTN to Reportedly Outsource It’s Technical Department

    towers mtnAs telecom companies in Uganda look for ways to cut down costs and as well improve quality of service, MTN Uganda is reportedly getting ready to outsource its technical department to a third-party. The technical team is  that department that plans and maintains the network. According to reliable sources the telecom giant has told all its technical staff to get ready for the transition that could be completed by next year.

    The decision is already done, but what remains to be decided is who gets the contract between Ericsson or Huawei as the company uses both telecom vendor’s equipment to run the network with Huawei having the most equipment in the network. Our Sources further reveal that as part of the negotiations, whoever will take on the team will have to give 4 year renewable contracts to the current MTN employees.

    MTN already sub-contracts its Information Technology (IT) department.
