‘Gangnam Style’ Breaks YouTube Record, Now at Two Billion Views and Counting

2012’s international song of the year “Gangnam Style” has become the first ever to break 2 billion views on YouTube video. The smash hit music video which was first released on July 15th, 2012 hit the record late Friday night, just 525 days since it amassed 1 billion all-time views last year in December. To be exact the video had 2,000,614,270 views as of 10 a.m. EST It has of course taken a little longer for the second billion viewers to be registered almost three times longer than the first.

“2 billion views … they are very honorable and very burdensome numbers,” Psy said in a statement to Billboard. “With appreciation, I will come back soon with more joyful contents!!”

The second place video on YouTube is still the music video that “Gangnam Style” dethroned: Justin Bieber’s “Baby,” which has just half the number of views as “Gangnam Style.” In case you have been living in a cave and missed the video you can watch it below.
