The initiative kicks off with the launch of Mbarara City’s first-ever electric boda boda swap station, paving the way for a fleet of eco-friendly bikes to hit the streets this June. This strategic alliance targets high-density boda boda areas, ensuring a swift and impactful transition towards a greener transportation system.
Spiro, already a force in Kampala with 22 established swap stations, brings its innovative e-bikes and advanced battery technology to Mbarara. Yongeza Capital, a sustainability champion, fuels the expansion by facilitating financing options through Mogo and other partners. This ensures accessible and economical solutions for boda boda riders, making the switch to electric a breeze.
“Our collaboration with Spiro is about fostering a sustainable urban ecosystem,” emphasizes Collin Mugisha, CEO/Founder of Yongeza Capital. “By targeting key areas like Mbarara City, we demonstrate the tangible benefits of electric bikes – cost savings and environmental conservation.”
Kaushik Burman, CEO of Spiro, echoes this sentiment: “This June, with Mbarara’s first swap station launch and bike introductions, we lay the foundation for a more sustainable Uganda. Our partnership with Yongeza Capital ensures these benefits reach every corner of the country.”
This partnership goes beyond just electric miles. It empowers the boda boda sector with sustainable, economical, and high-quality transportation solutions. By reducing carbon emissions in Uganda’s bustling cities, it paves the way for a cleaner and healthier future for all.
