If you were expecting to a food order from Cafe javas, you may have to think twice. In light with the presidential directives to have a total lock-down of the country in order curb the spread of coronavirus, several businesses have found it difficult to operate given that most of their clientele is stay in at home. Cafe javas is one of the high-end eating places that has thrown in the towel.
In a tweet posted today, your Cafe javas food ordering app will be as useless as tits on a bull– more so if you stay near one of their branches you will notice that there is no activity there now. The company will close down all its branches in and out of Kampala and this will also affect their food delivery service even if door to door delivery had been classified as an essential service among the corona guidelines by the president. Cafe javas has no idea when they will reopen for business.
In fact any attempts to order for anything, will come up with a “Cafe javas is Closed Now” message as shown below
Among the new presidential directives that affect business such as Cafe Javas include;
The second category of concentrations are the shopping malls, arcades, hardware shops, which gather alot of people to sell and buy non-food items. These are suspended for 14 days starting with the 1st of April, 2020.
Gatherings of more than 5 persons are hereby prohibited.
The ban on privately owned passenger vehicles will take effect from 2200 hours (Ten O’clock ─ Shaaha inna ez’ekiro), today, the 30th of March, 2020. I would have given the public time to adjust but on more scientific study, it was found that this would be a wrong policy. Why? A longer time would give people time to try and go to the villages. In so doing, they may transfer the sickness. We, would, then, not be curing anything. This freezing of movement will last 14 days from the 1st of April, 2020. This time it is not Fool’s Day; it is wise-person’s Day.
All the three above and more were part of the presidential guidelines made it hard for companies like Cafe Javas to remain in operation in this quarantine period.
Update: A day after the posted the above tweet, the company has a change in mind and is now accepting only deliveries. All deliveries are free if you order between 8:30 am to 4pm.
