    20 facts about SmileData and SmileVoice usage terms

    Smile Communications has been one of the telecoms at the helm of closing the internet divide in Uganda. The telecom offers several data packages for both SmileData and SmileVoice and most people neglect these usage terms. Below are over 20 points you must note before you subscribe for any bundle on the Smile 4G network.

    1. SmileData plans are valid as stated under ‘Validity Period’. The data roll-over rule applies when there is unused data left at the end of the validity period and the customer renews their data plan before the next 30 days. Unused data can only be rolled over one time.
    2. The Snack bundles can only be used with an active Unlimited monthly bundle.
    3. Validity of the Snack bundle is dynamic and linked to the validity of the active Unlimited bundle and will expire at the same time.
    4. All smile bundles come with pre-paid social media tax
    5. Snack bundles restore data speed of up to 4Mbps.
    6. A customer can recharge Snack bundles as many times as possible.
    7. Multiple data bundles will be depleted on a ‘first-in, first-out’ basis. Night and Weekend Bundles take priority over Anytime Bundles.
    8. Night and Weekend Bundles are valid on Monday to Thursday from 19:00 to 07:00 and on Friday from 19:00 to 07:00 the following Monday.
    9. All SmileLite Bundles are capped at a speed of 2Mbps.
    10. The out-of-bundle rate, which is equal to the in-bundle-rate, will be charged to a positive airtime balance in the associated Smile account.
    11. SmileUnlimited data ensures connectivity to the Smile 4G LTE network for a period of 30 days from date of activation.
    12. Smile’s Fair Usage Policy applies to the UnlimitedPlatinum, UnlimitedPremium and UnlimitedEssential plans.
    13. SmileUnlimited is available for personal use only and not available for wholesale.
    14. SmileUnlimited can be used with one SIM card and one device.
    15. Should the usage of a user negatively impact the experience of other customers, the right is reserved to reduce the data speed of such a user.
    16. SmileVoice has a fair usage policy of 3,000 minutes per 30 days.
    17. SmileVoice calls are charged on a per second basis, from the first second.
    18. The MB/minutes call rate is displayed for ease-of-use and calls are charged in kilobytes/second to the active data bundle.
    19. International call rates are displayed in call rate per minute and charged per second. The data deducted for international calls are also displayed in MB per minute for ease-of-use.
    20. SmileVoice is not available to business customers.
    21. SmileVoice is not available for resell or wholesale customers.
    22. Refiling is illegal and Smile reserves the right to terminate services provided to any customer should it be suspected that any form of refiling or any other illegal activity is being conducted using SmileVoice or any other Smile service.
