Uber is a multinational ride-hailing service that launched in Uganda with a wind of change to a modern transport sector portrayed goal. 2 years down the road, we have Taxify, Quick taxi, Mondo, Friendship among others steadily competing in the predictable industry as Boda hailing apps continue to dominate a slightly bigger portion of the hot cake. However, we discovered the answer to how Drivers are trusted with the broad responsibility of transporting riders safely even late in the night. Among the few things Uber collects, Drivers original documents and background information check in as a remedy to safety from the start process.

Driver Requirements
Licensing: All Uber driver-partners must have a valid driving permit issued by Face Technologies.
Identification: A valid national identification document (Identity Card or Passport) is required before a driver signs up. All national identification document (ID) must match with their cell phone numbers.
Driver screening: All drivers must undergo a thorough screening process before they can use the Uber app.These include registering with a certificate of good conduct from Interpol.
Information sessions: This involves completing a course at Uber’s Greenlight Hub support centres, which upon passing, the driver-partner will be activated and able to operate on the Uber app. Driver-partners will also need to attend information sessions, where Uber provides driver-partners with tips on how to give the best customer service to their passengers. These sessions also explain Uber’s Community Guidelines, which shows clear standards Uber has in place that explain what behavior is and isn’t appropriate when using the app and what can result in a rider or driver losing access to the Uber app.
Vehicle Requirements:
Insurance: All vehicles on Uber must have insurance covers either third party insurance or comprehensive insurance commercial vehicles and public liability.
Ownership: A valid logbook has to be provided for every vehicle that is introduced on Uber to clarify vehicle details and proof of ownership.

IRT: Our Incident Response Team (IRT) is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond immediately to any reported incidents or accidents globally.
Emergency Line: Uber also partnered with SGA Security, a local security company that provides driver-partners with a dedicated emergency line.
Partnership with the Uganda Driving Standards Agency: The Uganda Driving Standards Agency works closely with Uganda Traffic Police to conduct competence tests for all uberBODA drivers-partners in order for them to acquire driving permits.
