Blackberry resurrects the Blackberry Classic at $499

Today, BlackBerry has announced the BlackBerry Classic, a phone that has a throwback look and has a full QWERTY physical keyboard, physical navigation keys, and a nearly indistinguishable design from earlier BlackBerry smartphones. Unlike the Passport, the Classic is of course smaller with easy one hand operation. As expected this BlackBerry will appeal to those looking for the traditional BlackBerry experience.

On the spec sheet, the Classic has a square, 720 x 720 pixel, 3.5-inch touchscreen with a physical QWERTY keyboard. The phone is powered by an old dual-core Qualcomm processor from two years ago, with 2GB of RAM. So don’t expect to have any modern games.  There’s an 8-megapixel camera on the back of the phone, with a 2-megapixel unit on the front.

This Blackberry can also run Android apps, which are accessible through the Amazon Appstore that’s preloaded on the device. The Classic will be available unlocked through BlackBerry and Amazon’s online stores for $449.
