How to Choose a Proper Gaming Mouse

There are many gaming accessories on the market today, from gaming PCs to keyboards, headsets, and more. However, a gaming mouse is an item that needs special attention to get the most out of your abilities while gaming. Indeed, a good gaming mouse can be very beneficial in terms of response time and can also be ergonomic and comfortable.

Selecting a good mouse requires paying specific attention to various details. In this article, we will tell you how to choose a good gaming mouse so that you no longer blame your bad equipment when you lose.

Shape, Illumination, and Number of Buttons

When choosing a mouse, the main thing should be how the gaming mouse fits in the hand and whether it is comfortable to hold. Since you will probably be using it for several hours a day, the wrong shape of the mouse can make gaming difficult. If you are playing casino games at SlotsLV, you should choose a mouse with the proper size, so you don’t have difficulties while gambling. Generally, since everyone is used to something different and at the same time the shape of the hand is different for people, the easiest way is to try a gaming mouse right in the store.

Usually, within a few seconds, you will know if the shape of the mouse suits you or not. You can choose from classic ambidextrous mice and ones with very specific shapes to help you play comfortably.

You can also choose a mouse for your left or right hand. Nowadays you can find a really perfect solution in online stores.

The surface of the mouse is also important when choosing. A glossy surface usually has a pattern, but on the other hand, every stain is immediately visible on it, so if you want the mouse to look good for a long time, you will have to take the time to clean it regularly. Some manufacturers also offer a special glossy surface that is almost invisible.

Backlighting is also an important consideration when choosing the perfect gaming mouse. You will almost always find more expensive mice that will play with you in all the colours of the rainbow. Classic mice glow in one colour (often red), so again it depends on your preferences.

This can be a disadvantage if the mouse is brightly lit, such as when you have already put your computer to sleep. However, it is advisable to find out about this factor directly in the store or from people who have experience with a particular mouse.

A gaming mouse should have at least two side buttons, and ideally also a button above the wheel, which is the one you’ll most often use to switch DPI. The number of mouse buttons mostly depends on your preferences as well as what you are used to working with.

    Wireless or Traditional Mouse?

Gamers often debate whether a wireless mouse can be used for quality online gaming. The answer is definitely yes. Modern wireless mice are very powerful, so you don’t have to worry about accidental shutdowns during your most intense gaming moments.

The wireless option solves the problem of tangled wires that can get in the way. On the other hand, you need to think about recharging or buying batteries.

    Check Additional Features

Finally, look at the range of features the mouse offers. Some gaming mice come with adjustable weights, so you can customize them to fit your hand. Others come with adjustable CPI (counts per inch) settings. This allows you to change the sensitivity of the mouse, depending on the type of game you’re playing.

    Which DPI to Choose?

What does the abbreviation DPI stand for? Simply put, this is a value that specifies how much detail the mouse sensor can sense the surface below it when it sends a signal to the computer where and how quickly to move the cursor. Logically, the higher the sensitivity, the faster the response on the computer screen.

It is always recommended to choose a higher DPI, so when buying a new gaming mouse, this setting should be at least 4000 DPI. The so-called polling rate goes hand in hand with DPI and is measured in hertz (Hz). The mouse polling rate determines how often the mouse tells the computer that it has changed its position. This parameter should be at least 1000 Hz when choosing a gaming mouse.

    The Bottom Line

Overall, choosing the right gaming mouse is an important part of creating an optimal gaming experience. There are many factors to consider, such as the type of games you play, the size and shape of the mouse, the response time, and the range of features it offers. Taking the time to research and compare different gaming mice will ensure you get the perfect mouse for your gaming needs.
