The iPad Air vs the iPad Pro – Is it Worth Splashing Out on the Top Model?

The latest versions of Apple’s iPad Air and iPad Pro are hugely impressive and are taking the capabilities of tablets to the next level. There is quite a gulf in price between the two models, though, and it is a big decision when choosing which one to buy. The 2020 iPad Air base model comes in at $599, while the Pro starts at $799. It should be obvious that the top offering outdoes the Air in several areas because of its higher specifications. But does the enhanced tech on the Pro justify its loftier price tag? Or is the Air sufficient for most people’s needs?

On the surface, it is hard to split the iPad Air and the Pro. They both have a similar, sleek design, and the differences are slight. The Pro has an 11-inch display, while the Air’s is 10.9 inches. On both devices, the Liquid Retina displays are laminated for added protection. When looking at the two devices side by side, the pixel quality of the Pro is slightly richer, but there is not much to differentiate between them to the naked eye.

When it comes to accessories, the useful add-ons that are available for the Pro can also be used with the Air. One of the most recent additions to the accessory list for these products is the Magic Keyboard. This is the new hard keyboard that doubles as a case. It can be used to provide a desktop computer-like experience. There is also the Apple Pencil, which can be used with both devices.

    Gaming

One of the most common uses for tablets is gaming, and the mobile gaming industry as a whole makes up 50 percent of the global games market. There are plenty of games to choose from on mobile, though, and someone’s preference of game could play a big part in whether they choose to buy the iPad Air or the Pro.

One of the most popular genres to play on mobile is online casino games, with slots being among the best-looking offerings on the portable device. These games are played by a lot of people because they are so accessible, thanks to no deposit casino bonuses and other free ways to play. There are many sites to choose from, with players often turning to review sites for advice. Sites such as this detail why players should consider a no deposit casino bonus, and what benefits it could bring them. Regardless, for those who are new to this type of game, it has information about wagering limits, helping new players play their first games without issue.

Slots are quite a simple form of a game, and they run just as easily on the Air or the Pro. Other popular mobile options, such as the myriad of puzzle games like Candy Crush and Cut the Rope, also only require low processing power to look great and run smoothly. Therefore, players of these games wouldn’t be able to justify going for the Pro.

The iPad Pro has the new A12X Bionic Chip that has vastly improved its graphics. It also has 6 GB of RAM compared to the 4GB of the Air, meaning that its capabilities for gaming are much higher. Indeed, the new Pro is up to 40 percent faster than its predecessor. With this in mind, players will be able to play much more advanced games on the Pro, such as Infinity Blade III, Real Racing 3, and AG Drive.

The bottom line is that for everyday gamers, either device is fine. But for expert gamers who want to play the more advanced games, the Pro is the best option.

    General Use

Apple has confirmed that the battery life on both the Pro and the Air is the same, and they should last up to ten hours of web usage when on Wi-Fi. For people who need higher performance and to conduct a wide range of tasks, though, the Pro is the superior option. This is because it has a better processor and is more capable of dealing with heavier workflows. It could also be the graphic designer’s dream, as the Apple Pencil has no noticeable latency and offers an incredibly smooth drawing experience on the screen.

The iPad Air and the iPad Pro are similar in many ways. The only way to justify going for the more expensive device is if you are a gamer that plays detailed games, or if you need to spend most of your working hours on the tablet. For anyone else, the Air should be sufficient.
