Seacom repairs fiber optic cable: Let the streaming resume

Internet users around the East cost of Africa can now rejoice after SEACOM one of the sea fiber cable companies has restored service after it was vandalized earlier this month near port Alexandria. Below is an official statement from SEACOM.

“ SEACOM would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers, partners and peers for their collaboration and support during the outage.

Our partner network has informed us that the assigned cable ship worked in optimal weather conditions for the duration of their repairs. The cable was quickly lifted, the new cable spliced in, tested and re-laid thanks to close coordination between the ship crew and on-shore support.

SEACOM will continue striving to provide the most reliable service to our customers and to enable the rapid growth of the African Internet.”
