    Understanding the Netflix Free Trial

Netflix offers a free trial to new Netflix members that provides unlimited access to the Netflix catalog. If you enjoy your 30-day free trial, you will be charged after the trial ends. You will not be charged for the trial itself.

To start your free month, simply go to Netflix.com, choose a plan and payment option that’s best for you, enter your email, set a password, and start watching.

You won’t be charged during your free trial, and you can cancel anytime. Netflix will remind you when your free trial is about to end, so you can cancel your account if you’d rather not become a Netflix member. If you choose to continue enjoying Netflix after your trial ends, you’ll be automatically charged one low monthly fee no matter how much you watch.

Why Netflix needs your payment details during the free trial?

Netflix asks for a payment method to ensure you don’t have any interruption in service after the free trial ends. They do this by sending an authorization request to your bank to verify that your payment method works. These requests are not charges, but in some cases they may temporarily affect your available account balance.

If you enjoyed your free trial, you will be automatically charged for a monthly subscription and continue to have unlimited access to Netflix when your trial ends. If you canceled your trial before it ended, you will not be charged, and you will no longer have access to the Netflix catalog.

Why you would see a charge when you sign up for a free trial?

Netflix verifies your payment details when they’re added or updated on an account. This process helps them ensure that the information provided is associated with a valid, open account that can be charged successfully in the future. They validate the information by submitting an authorization for roughly the same amount as the cost of the monthly Netflix membership. These requests are not charges, but the authorization amount may temporarily affect your available balance while your bank ensures you have sufficient funds.

When this authorization returns a successful result, Netflix immediately sends an automatic reversal requesting that the financial institution remove the authorization from your statement. While the request is immediate, it may take several days to reflect in your account. Check with your financial institution to see when you can expect the funds to be released.
