The MTN MoMo app is back and has been panel beaten for the better. This is an all in one application that can help you perform all your mobile money operations within one platform. It is a stand alone app but now it has also been included as an extension within its sister application the My MTN app.
An MTN user can use the MoMo app alone or can access the app through the MyMTN app where you can access the MoMo app, no need to use the two apps differently. Mobile Money services were completely put off at some point from the MyMTN app and it would show the users that section of the app isn’t available at that moment due to upgrading. This intergration of the two apps rectifies that.
MTN introduced a separate stand-alone application for their mobile money called the MOMO app with quite an interactive display, a double security feature that requires you to put your pin and then also a one time pin from MTN. It even has the timeout feature where a user needs to re-login in case they using the app but hadn’t clicked it for a while.
Users can use the MoMo app to pay bills using the Momo pay or by scanning QR Code, check balance, top-up data, and airtime, buy other bundles, send money, pay OTT, make bank transfers for users with a linked bank. Users can also donate via the app.
On the downside, users still need to install both the two apps, then open the MyMtn app from where they will find MTN services and MTN MoMo. When a user clicks on the MTN MoMo option they are then redirected to the MoMo app they have installed on their phone. If they don’t have the app installed they will be redirected to Google Play Store where they can install it.
This is still helpful since many of their customers didn’t know about the existence of the MoMo app, if redirected they can now download the app and enjoy mobile money and avoid the tedious USSD codes.
