Windows 10 doesn’t require you to safely remove flash disk anymore

    -

Sometime over the weekend I migrated to Windows operating systems and install Windows 10 after about two years of using Mac OS and my experience has been phenomenal so far. I recently noticed whenever I removed a connected flash disk from the computer without “safely ejecting” I no longer get the warning reminding me that the USB has been unexpectedly removed.

Which got me to thinking how important the feature was back in Windows 7 and earlier days when we would just use the computer during school days. The teachers would greatly stress the importance of safely ejecting the flash disk before removing them from the port which was a big point and if you didn’t follow the protocol, majority of them would get offended.

Now, according to Microsoft, you do not need to do that anymore because the company included a ‘quick removal’ feature in Windows 10 version 1809 that ensures that you can unplug the drive from your PC without any precautionary warning. However, you need to make sure you are not copying/writing files or your computer is not reading files from the flash disk.

Version 1809 was rolled out sometime in October 2018, so you may or may not be running it on your PC. For you to enjoy this new service, you should update your current Windows 10 and keep in mind, the updates are still hitting computers across the world so you should be a little patience if you do not get the new update.

I’m putting this information out here for no reason at all, but I thought you should know because I am aware I’m not alone in this, you might be worried a little bit at first that your PC might be having some problem but hey you don’t have to be. It’s one of the many changes Microsoft is trying to introduce with Windows 10.
