The Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) has reviewed and approved reduced electricity tariffs in accordance with the principles of tariff calculation and the terms of supply of the licensees in the Electricity Supply Industry.
Umeme has as of 10th April 2019, abided by the Electricity Regulatory Authority notified its customers of the changes in the Electricity Retail Base Tariff rates applicable for the second quarter (April to June) 2019.
Due to the amendment of tariff targets for Umeme Limited and Eskom Uganda Limited, the 2019 tariff base has been revised. The Q2 2019 tariffs are therefore the new 2019 base tariffs.
Domestic consumers
This applies to Low Voltage single phase supplied at 240 volts
- First 15 kWh in a month- 250 Shs/ kWh
- Above 15 kWh in a month- 769.0 Shs/ kWh reduced to 760.2 Shs /kWh
Commercial Consumers
This applies to 3-phase low voltage load not exceeding 100 Amperes supplied at 415 volts

- Shoulder – 681.1 Shs/ kWh reduced to 674.0 Shs/kWh
- Off- Peak- 433.9 Shs/ kWh reduced to 416.2 Shs/kWh

Medium Industrial Consumers
This applies to low voltage supplied at 415 volts, with maximum demand up to 500kVA

It should be noted that Electricity retail base tariffs are subject to quarterly adjustment to reflect changes in micro-economic cost drivers. The first monthly 15 kWh for the domestic customers is charged at a lifeline tariff of shs 250 per kWh. All other fixed monthly charges (e.g inspection fees, reconnection fees, etc) by UMEME will remain unchanged.
