MTN Uganda Denies Makerere University Telecom Engineering students Internship: Mast take down was due to cancer scare

On a yearly basis University students go for a 3-4 months internship period to brush up this acquired University academic knowledge and relate to real world hardships in different work environments. It has not been a bed of roses for Makerere Telecom students who were eying MTN as their internship placement.

The Ugandan mobile giant MTN, has denied all telecom engineering students from Makerere University internship.  This is of course some sort of revenge after the Makerere University Students Association
(MUASA) voted to order MTN “uproot” the mast near Mary Stuart, a girl’s hall of residence.
The mast was taken down after several complaints and a research that indicated that people living around it
risked cancer infections from the radio waves permitted. The Guild president’s facebook page below gives us more details.
