Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 will have 10GB of RAM and 5G internet support

Forget about the edge-to-edge screen display that has been characteristic of the previous models, Xiaomi’s next flagship phone is going to open another stage of firsts. The company has confirmed that the Mi Mix 3 will be launched October 25th, and is coming with 10GB of RAM and 5G connectivity.

Given the time of announcement, this is likely to be the first smartphone from a major manufacturer to carry as much memory. It is up to you the consumer to weigh in on whether 10 gigs of RAM should be carried on a phone.

The specifications are still unclear, with only renders circulating, but GSMArena reports that the Mi Mix 3 is likely to have a “100% screen-to-body front with a sliding back.”

This is a confirmation of a pop-up camera system that was first launched on the Oppo Find X – which is at least an improvement from the positioning at the bottom of the screen on the previous models.

Some of its other rumored features include Snapdragon 845, 6.4-inch S-AMOLED screen, in-display fingerprint scanner and 3D facial scanner.

The phone is also expected to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, as well as have the AI Dedicated Button that will activate Xiao AI.

How much RAM does a phone need?

It is understandable that a phone with 1GB of RAM can not function to the expectations especially if running on Android 5.0 on wards. We actually recommend that you opt for a phone with 2GB RAM or more if it is within your means to buy it.

While 2GB is the minimum you can have, what is the upper limit to this? Should it be 10GB?

We’ll wait on to see how the competition fares, and whether other major manufacturers will follow suit to label their flagships with the mark.
