Rokespot is one of those Open Wi-Fi hotspots you’ll get to see in several cities around Uganda. However much, NITA provides free internet using its MYUG SSID in Kampala, It’s never enough as it’s limited to specific hours of usage. Cutting the long story short, here is how you can actually enjoy uninterrupted access whenever you dive into a Roke Zone.
Before proceeding to the initial steps of the Roke zone subscription status, adjusting your computer/smartphone near the great spot coverage areas guarantees you the best speeds possible. However, Let’s dive into the very basic means starting with a connected status as a must with a list of locations you can hang out before connecting to the network.
Step 1: Connect to the RokeSpot Wi-FI network
Having rolled out connectivity in over 8 cities by 2015. You can check if you have a Rokespot connection near you through your Wi-Fi list or check our locations here. However, In case your Zone is not fully pumped with a Rokespot signal, you can drive through to a nearby zone with great quality coverage.
Step 2: Open your mobile/web browser
Amidst the fate of ever popping mobile/web browsers, once you are connected to the Rokespot network, your browser automatically pops up or your smartphone signals a ‘Sign in to this network’ notification. Or else, manually open your browser to successfully use the internet.
Step 3: Wait for a redirection or visit the Rokespot Login page
Although redirections are not a must on several devices, If your browser redirects you to the Rokespot login page ‘well and good’. But then, In an event with no redirection simply place the URL ‘rokespot.roketelkom.com’ to visit the Wi-Fi login page from which we are able to access unlimited internet for a given period of time.
Step 4: Enter credentials and package validity then submit
Rokespot offers several packages ranging from the daily version all the way up to the bulk monthly package. However, choosing a preferred package caps your connection to that specific period of time. For instance, we chose a daily package with OTT and it raves up for only UGX 1,200 with a UGX 120 mobile money charge. Even though, Roke Telkom had announced a free OTT zone that seems to have been revoked off Rokespot, you can choose to pay the OTT or clear the standard UGX 1,000 charge only.
After a successful mobile money approval / Credit/Debit card or Entering a valid voucher code that can be purchased through several digital options. You will have free uninterrupted unlimited internet access with no caps whatsoever for the specified period of time without the need to re-purchase a package again in case you shift to a new location. Nonetheless, what beats the unlimited internet offer at the cost of a 100MB mobile data bundle.
