Just last week, Instagram announced a new feature, the Nametag, a unique code that other users can scan to see your profile. Precisely, this is all about creating and customizing your own Instagram nametag, that others can scan to follow you.

This initiative is to make it easier for users to spread word on their Instagram account, and make it simpler to follow a friend they just met.

How to customize your Instagram Nametag

Tap on the profile button in the right corner at the bottom of the screen, and then tap on the three horizontal lines in the right corner at the top of the screen, and select Nametag.

You can then customize your Nametag with either an emoji background, a selfie background or a colorful background, depending on the mode you’re currently in.

You can share this nametag with friends through text messages and over other platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp. Just press the arrow at the top right of your nametag.

How to scan someone else’s Nametag

You can do this by facing your phone’s camera at a nametag and their account will show up on your phone.

Other social media platforms have embraced the idea of scanning codes. Twitter, Facebook, and Snapchat users can generate QR codes for others to scan and quickly find their accounts, while Spotify users can also look out for for music tracks the same way.
