Google through C-Squared started offering fiber to the Home internet in selected places in and around Kampala. Google Fiber has long been around but not at onetime had it gotten into the hands of consumers through Google itself.
Years of laying the yellow, red and blue cables around the city had finally culminated into Google finally adopting the B2C model, because they had earlier employed a B2B model selling to fellow ISPs.
We have now got hold of apparent rates that will be applied to Google Fiber’s dedicated internet, either over fiber or Microwave. Apparently free installation applies but subject to where the client stays.
The rates where leaked over social media through someone whom we suspect to be a reseller but not from Google itself. Therefore, its advisable to take this with a grain of salt.
How much will Google Fiber internet cost you?
Dedicated connections over fiber are priced at $100/mbps inclusive of VAT. Free installation also applies but still this is dependent on where the applicant stays.
The internet is also offered over microwave and below are the rates as well. These are inclusive of VAT and free installation.
- 1.5Mbps: UGX 350,000
- 2Mbps: UGX 525,000
- 3Mbps: 700,000
- 4Mbps: 880,000
- 5Mbps: 1,000,000
- 8Mbps: 1,700,000
- 10Mbps: 2,000,000
We reached out to C – Squared to verify these rates but we hadn’t gotten any feedback by press time.
