Ride hailing services in Uganda may have been kickstarted by the popular Uber service ruling cars hailing and its orange counterpart/foe SafeBoda, ruling the Boda hailing industry but the emergence of competitive services from the likes of Taxify and Little cab has also had a maximum impact in the way riders travel around Kampala. Well, it’s all good news for Taxify fanatics as the service has launched a new hailing option called Taxify Go.

Taxify Go is Taxify’s economy category with pocket-friendly fares, as the category consists of smaller 4-seater cars with 1300cc engines (or lower) suitable for everyday commuting.  These are vehicles with smaller engines that consume less fuel, resulting in lower operational costs to drivers and therefore more affordable fares for riders unlike the basic Taxi or XL option.

Although the Taxify Go option has been launched at a 15% off discounted price, the Base fare will be UGX 800, 400 per km, UGX 70 per minute and a minimum Fare of UGX 3000. Perhaps the newly launched Taxify Go option places the ride-hailing firm in a top seat with broad hailing options followed by the slain Mondo ride service.

The new 4 seater ride hailing service for now, joins Mondo ride, Quick taxi, and Little cab in the battle for fuel efficient cars trailing through Kampala in a budget-friendly category with vehicles like the Toyota Vitz and Sienta are now catered for with Taxify’s Go option.

However, the battle for the finest Boda hailing service has no clear winner with more firms like Dial Jack joining the race while old-timers like SafeBoda and Taxify Boda have remained stable. With Taxify Go finally here, ride hailing around Kampala just became cheaper and it remains the safest means of transport to-date away from the stripped Kampala taxis.
