The much-anticipated Infinix Note, the Infinix Note 5 was launched in Uganda on Monday 23rd June, 2018 at Hotel Triangle. We received a review unit from Infinix and after a few hours of toying around with the Android One Infinix Note 5, we share Infinix Note 5 Specs and first impressions.
The Infinix Note 5 is one of the best mid-range phones of 2018. It comes with an eye-catching design that sees a glass back. The Note 5 is currently the only device available locally in Uganda to adopt Android One.
The Android One program was originally architected for seamless updates on entry-level devices. However, Google didn’t register much success on that front. Consequently, Google went back to the drawing board and reimagined the Android One project to include high-end devices.

Unboxing the Infinix Note 5

The Note 5 Retail box contains only the most vital accessories. There was nothing much to excite us about the retail package. It includes a Quick Charge adapter, a USB cable, a SIM Card ejector and bundled headsets.
Android One.
The unifying theme amongst all of Android One devices is a clean and uncluttered user interface along with the promise of quick updates. The Infinix Note 5 has the purest form of Android you can find. There are no skins, no bloat ware, no mambo jumbo, just pure Android. We really fell in love with this clean interface.
Design.
The Infinix Note 5 is an elegant device. The mirror finish at the back and the edge-to-edge display gives it a premium look. We loved the design and build quality of the Note 5. The phone feels good in the hand too. Sadly, the back panel grabs fingerprints which compromises the phones beauty. However, a period wipe restores the stunning display every time.
Display.
The display of the Infinix Note 5 is a stunning 6 inch FHD+. We were impressed with the colour rendering accuracy of the screen. Photos and text appear vivid with great contrast. We shall taste the display further with some HD content in the review that will follow-up. But after scrolling through Google photos and reading stuff online, the display didn’t disappoint.
Cameras.
The Note 5 isn’t lacking in the camera department either, thanks to a 12MP large pixel camera and 16MP low light selfie camera.
Being an Android One device, the Note 5 has visual smarts and Google Lens. We were able to search stuff surrounding us in a flash.

The cameras take detailed photos that easily make other cameras juveniles. We shall expound more on the cameras in our in-depth review.
Battery.
The Infinix Note 5 has a monstrous 4,500mAh battery with 3A fast charge. Infinix promised 3 days of battery on the phone, but that’s only on moderate use. The a note 5 lasted 12 hours with 4G switched on all the way, using social media apps, and taking random pics. However, we shall make a verdict about the battery stamina of the a Note 5 in our review.
The Infinix Note 5 doesn’t have the trendy Face ID that we saw on previous devices like the Infinix S3, Infinix Hot 6 and Infinix Hot 6 Pro. However, the rear mounted fingerprint scanner is fast and we didn’t miss Face ID that much. We shall provide more details about the phones functionality in the review.
