Life got simpler with the introduction of mobile money bill payments by telecoms. No more annoying long queues, time is also saved as you can pay for the bills within your comfort zone at any time. Paying for goods and services is easy, safe and convenient. MTN Uganda has rolled out new MTN Mobile Money bill payment rates which will be effective April 20th 2018.
About a month ago, UCC set a new date for MTN Uganda’s license renewal ahead of a public hearing about the company that will be conducted on Monday 26th March 2018. The new improved rates may be an effort by the company to have the public’s support at the public hearing come Monday.
With over half of the mobile money customers in Uganda using MTN, MTN Mobile Money sits with comfort on top of the ‘most used mobile money service’ list. Therefore, these new rates will directly affect how 54% of all mobile money users in Uganda transact on the service.
The bills and services have been categorized into two groups. The first group of bills includes School Fees, Donations, Church, MKOPA, ReadyPay Solar and Betway. The second category has TV services like StarTimes, Zuku, DSTV, and utility services like NWSC, UMEME and UEDCL.
The new MTN Mobile Money bill payment rates are as follows
Previously, MTN only allowed for payment of bill not greater than UGX 4,000,000. With the new MTN Mobile Money bill payment rates, you can pay up to UGX 7,000,000 for a simple charge of UGX 5,500 for services in category one and UGX 6,000 for services in category two.
Most of the rates have been reduced unbelievably. The highest you are charged on a single transaction in the new MTN Mobile Money bill payment rates will be UGX 6,000, dropping from UGX 40,000 which you are currently charged for paying above UGX 2,000,000 for any service in category two at the current rates.
This is not the first time MTN Uganda is reviewing its rates and offering affordable everything. Just a month ago, they introduced the new MTN Pulse bundles and a complete list of new MTN mobile internet bundles. This is just an addition to the already exciting arsenal of offering MTN Uganda is reigning with.
