Apple recruits Burberry CEO to lead retail and online stores

Apple has announced it’s hiring the current CEO of Burberry  Angela Ahrendts, to lead the Apple retail and online stores’ “strategic direction, expansion, and operation.” This top position has been created especially for Ahrendts — this means that no one is moving in or out of Apple’s executive team — who will join Apple as a Senior Vice President reporting directly to Tim Cook the CEO.

Ahrendts will officially join Apple in Spring 2014, giving Burberry enough time to adjust to her departure. According to Apple’s press release announcing the event, she says she’s “profoundly honored to join Apple in this newly created position next year,” adding that she looks forward to “working with the global teams to further enrich the consumer experience on and offline.”

Speaking on the hire, Cook says he’s “thrilled” that Ahrendts is joining Apple. “She shares our values and our focus on innovation, and she places the same strong emphasis as we do on the customer experience. She has shown herself to be an
extraordinary leader throughout her career and has a proven track record.” Hit the source link for a full press release.
