GOtv slashes subscription fees for its premium users

Effective the 7th of this month, GOtv is kicking off the holiday season with a four-month promotional offer for its GOtv Plus premium users. From December 7th 2016 until 31st March 2017, GOtv plus subscription will drop from UGX 28,000 to UGX 26,000. This is a UGX 2,000 drop which highly counts for people on a low-budget.

While the GOtv decoder remains pricey at UGX 87,500 in contrast to Startimes’  UGX 33,500 for their SD decoder, GOtv’s appeal has always drawn numbers to its side. With its recent move of adding more sports channels to beef up its channel lineup, some broadcasting the English Premier League, this is like an icing to the cake that will help the multichoice owned brand cement it’s position in Uganda’s pay-TV space.

In August, DSTV introduced its cheapest pay TV package and also extended more channels to the GOtv platform. The extension of these channels has been maintained on their GOtv platform in order to have a better value proposition for GOtv subscribers. DSTV in particular has long held a tight grip on Uganda’s pay-TV space has of recent been reducing its subscription packages in a new campaign dubbed “Business Unusual”.
