    False Sale Rumors: Uganda Telecom has not been sold!

    Uganda telecom has come out to deny any acquisition rumors that were first reported by some tech blogs and other online media houses. According to the Guru8, a local tech media blog and Eagle, the company was to be sold off to a US based telecom firm called Hamilton Telecom, but UTL has come out to call them baseless rumors. When this blog contacted UTL on the matter, Tony Achidra, the company’s Public Relations Officer said that;

    “Uganda Telecom Limited wishes to address the false and misleading stories that have been published in sections of the media, particularly in online publications, regarding the sale of the company. Uganda Telecom has not been sold nor is in the process of being sold.” He further said that ” Our two shareholders are working closely to ensure that the company strategy and business plan are implemented. Uganda Telecom continues to broaden its portfolio of services and remains dedicated to innovation and offering our customers the highest possible service levels.”

    We recently reported that the company is looking to venture into new telecom business strategy and target the Enterprise market in a bid to revive itself and remain competitive in Uganda’s telecom space.
