    Microsoft’s digital assistant Cortana is coming to Android and iOS later this year

    Slowly by slowing Microsoft is going back to its roots, to offer the best software for any platform. Today, Reuters reports that a standalone app of Microsoft’s digital assistant, Cortana will be available on phones and tablets running iOS and Android. This means idevices will have both Siri and Cortana and Android Phones will have Google Now and Microsoft’s Cortana.

    In an interview with Reuters, Microsoft’s Eric Horvitz, managing director of Microsoft Research, reveals that the company is cooking a bigger roll out of Cortana later this year. He said

    “This kind of technology, which can read and understand email, will play a central role in the next roll out of Cortana, which we are working on now for the fall time frame,”

    The company is currently developing a more advanced version of Cortana, codenamed project Einstein, that pulls data from artificial intelligence.

    In recent times the software maker has systematically shown that it’s willing to bring its best Windows features to rival platforms in an overall effort to improve its services and apps.
